Nestled in the historic Uptown 23rd District of Oklahoma City, Tower Theatre is a beloved landmark and premier live entertainment venue. Opened in 1937 along an original stretch of Route 66, the Art Deco house was designed by architect W. Scott Dunne and quickly became one of the city’s finest movie palaces — a complete working stage, a pipe organ in the orchestra pit, and a neon marquee that lit up 23rd Street.

After nearly four decades as a premier movie house, the Tower slipped into a long decline and went dark in 1989. It sat shuttered for almost twenty years before a full historic restoration brought it back — the marquee relit, the ticket booth rebuilt, the terrazzo floors laid back in their original patterns, and the auditorium ceiling scanned and reconstructed to its exact historic shape.

Today Tower Theatre hosts concerts, comedy, film screenings, live podcasts, and community gatherings. The main floor was terraced during the restoration — each tier sits two feet above the one before it, so sightlines stay clean from the rail to the back of the room — while the original balcony seats were restored and put back to work. Pair that with a concert-grade sound and lighting rig and you get a room that feels intimate without feeling small.

Beyond the show calendar, Tower Theatre also welcomes private events, offering a distinctive setting for celebrations, corporate functions, and special occasions that benefit from its historic charm and flexible space. Whether you’re coming for a show or planning an event, Tower Theatre stands as a vibrant cultural hub — where Oklahoma City’s past and present come together on one remarkable stage.
